The three paths at a glance

AI Practitioner validates foundational AI, ML, generative AI and AWS AI service knowledge. Generative AI Developer – Professional validates advanced implementation skills for production applications. AI Business Strategist validates judgment around investments, business cases, governance and adoption.

Choose AI Practitioner when

Choose this route if you work with AI initiatives but do not yet build production AI systems. It suits cloud, data, IT, product and line-of-business professionals who need a common technical vocabulary and an understanding of AWS AI services.

Choose Generative AI Developer when

Choose the professional route if you already build software and want to prove that you can design, secure, deploy and operate generative AI applications. Expect Amazon Bedrock, RAG, agents, evaluation, observability, identity, networking and cost control.

Choose AI Business Strategist when

Choose this route if you evaluate AI investments, prioritize use cases, develop business cases, define governance or lead organizational adoption. AWS states that this certification does not assess AWS AI service knowledge.

Can you earn more than one?

Yes. The certifications validate different abilities. A product or consulting leader may combine AI Practitioner with Business Strategist. A developer may use AI Practitioner as a foundation before building toward the professional credential.
